Terms of Service
Last updated October 3, 2026
The short version
This summary helps you read the terms below; it doesn’t replace them.
- Cruse helps you understand and plan your money. It’s a tool and a coach, not a bank or a financial adviser.
- You make your own financial decisions. Check important numbers before you act on them.
- Paid plans renew automatically until you cancel, which you can do in the app at any time.
- Disputes go to individual arbitration, not class actions, unless you opt out within 30 days or live in Canada. See section 17.
- You can delete your account at any time.
1. Agreeing to these terms
These Terms of Service (“Terms”) are an agreement between you and Cruse, LLC, a Texas limited liability company (“Cruse,” “we,” “us”). They cover the Cruse mobile app, the web app at cruse.app, the website at getcruse.com and everything we offer through them (the “Service”). By creating an account or using the Service, you agree to these Terms and to our Privacy Policy. If you don’t agree, don’t use the Service.
2. Who can use Cruse
- You must be at least 18, live in the United States or Canada, and be able to enter into a binding contract.
- An account is for one person. Give us accurate information and keep it up to date.
- Keep your sign-in secure. You’re responsible for activity in your account, so tell us right away at support@getcruse.com if you think someone else has used it.
3. What Cruse is, and what it isn’t
Cruse is a personal finance tool. It organizes your financial information, helps you budget and plan, and offers general educational coaching.
Cruse is not a bank, lender, broker-dealer, investment adviser, tax preparer, law firm, credit counselor or fiduciary. Nothing in the Service is financial, investment, tax or legal advice, and Cruse doesn’t recommend specific investments. Forecasts, safe-to-spend amounts, payoff plans, projections and savings estimates are estimates based on your data and on assumptions, and real results will differ. You’re responsible for your financial decisions. For advice about your situation, talk to a qualified professional.
Cruse doesn’t hold or move your money. Household splits and settlements are records that help you keep track; they don’t send payments.
Cruse isn’t a crisis service. If you’re thinking about harming yourself, call or text 988 in the United States or Canada.
4. AI features
- AI replies are generated automatically and can be wrong, incomplete or out of date. Check important numbers before you act on them.
- The AI can create, edit or delete things such as budgets, goals, debts and payoff plans only after you confirm. You’re responsible for the actions you confirm.
- The AI only helps with personal finance, declines some requests, and has message limits that depend on your plan.
- Don’t enter full card or account numbers, or your Social Security or Social Insurance number.
- We may review conversations with personal details removed to improve Cruse, as our Privacy Policy explains.
5. Linking your financial accounts
- When you link an account, you authorize Cruse and Plaid Inc. to get your information from that financial institution, and you confirm you have the right to link it. Plaid’s handling of your information is governed by the Plaid End User Privacy Policy.
- Your financial data comes from your institutions through Plaid. It refreshes periodically, not in real time, and can be delayed, incomplete or wrong. We aren’t responsible for errors in data that your institutions or Plaid provide, so check your institution’s records before relying on a number.
- Not every institution or account type is supported, and connections can stop working until you reconnect them.
- You can unlink an account at any time.
6. Households
- A household shares information among its members, as described in our Privacy Policy. Only invite people you want to share with.
- The household owner’s paid plan covers every member.
- If the person who created the household deletes their account, or the owner leaves the paid plan, the household closes and its shared records (splits, settlements, invites and Money Date history) are deleted for all members.
7. Plans, billing and cancellation
- Plans. Cruse has a free plan and paid plans. The features, limits and price of each plan are shown in the Service and at checkout.
- Payment. Stripe processes payments. When you buy a paid plan, you authorize us to charge your payment method. Prices don’t include taxes unless we say so.
- Automatic renewal. Paid plans renew automatically at the end of each billing period, monthly or yearly, and we charge the then-current price until you cancel.
- Cancelling. Cancel at any time in the app: open your profile and tap Manage subscription. You can also email support@getcruse.com from your account’s email address; the link writes the email for you, and we’ll cancel your plan without asking you anything else. Your plan stays active until the end of the period you’ve paid for and then doesn’t renew. Deleting your account cancels your plan right away.
- Refunds. Payments aren’t refundable, including for partial billing periods, except where the law requires.
- Price changes. We’ll tell you about a price change at least 30 days before it applies to your next renewal. If you don’t want to pay the new price, cancel before then.
- Offers. If we offer a free trial or a promotion, its length and terms will be shown when you start it.
- Fair use. Plans described as unlimited still have reasonable limits that keep the Service working for everyone, such as caps on messages per minute or per month.
- Failed payments. If a payment fails and isn’t fixed, we may move your account to the free plan.
8. Acceptable use
You agree not to:
- use Cruse for anything illegal, including fraud or money laundering;
- link accounts or upload information you don’t have the right to use, or access anyone else’s account or data without permission;
- upload anything unlawful, abusive, sexually explicit or violent;
- try to get around our limits, security or AI safeguards, including by trying to make the AI ignore its instructions;
- copy, scrape, reverse-engineer, resell or disrupt the Service, or use it to build a competing product; or
- access the Service with bots or other automated tools, except through features we provide for that.
9. Your content
You own the information and files you add to Cruse. You give us a worldwide, non-exclusive, royalty-free permission to host, copy, process and display them only to run, secure and improve the Service, as our Privacy Policy describes. This permission ends when you delete the content or your account, except for copies in backups, copies the law requires us to keep, and information that no longer identifies you.
If you send us feedback or ideas, we may use them without owing you anything.
10. Our rights
The Service, including its software, design, text and trademarks, belongs to Cruse and its licensors. We give you a personal, non-transferable, revocable permission to use it to manage your own finances under these Terms.
11. Other companies’ services
Cruse relies on services from other companies, such as Plaid, Stripe, Apple and Google, and their own terms may also apply to you. The Service may link to other websites, such as a merchant’s cancellation page or a link in an AI reply. We don’t control those services or websites and aren’t responsible for them.
12. Changes to the Service
We’re always improving Cruse, so features may change, be added or be removed, and the Service may sometimes be unavailable. We’ll try to give you notice before removing a feature you pay for.
13. Ending your use of Cruse
You can stop using Cruse and delete your account at any time in the app’s settings. We may suspend or end your access if you break these Terms, if your use creates risk or legal exposure for Cruse or others, or if the law requires it. When we reasonably can, we’ll tell you first. Sections 9 and 14 through 19 continue to apply after your account ends.
14. Disclaimers
The Service is provided “as is” and “as available.” To the fullest extent the law allows, Cruse disclaims all warranties, express or implied, including warranties of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose and non-infringement. We don’t promise that the Service will be uninterrupted, error-free or secure, or that any information in it, including data from your financial institutions, forecasts and AI replies, is accurate or complete.
15. Limits on our liability
To the fullest extent the law allows, Cruse isn’t liable for indirect, incidental, special, consequential or punitive damages, or for lost profits, savings, data or goodwill, arising from the Service or these Terms. Our total liability for any claim is limited to the greater of what you paid us in the 12 months before the claim or 100 US dollars. Some places don’t allow these limits, so they may not apply to you.
16. Your responsibility for misuse
To the extent the law allows, if your breach of these Terms or of the law in using the Service leads to a claim against Cruse, you agree to cover our reasonable losses and costs from that claim.
17. Disputes and arbitration
Please read this section carefully. Unless you opt out, it requires you and Cruse to resolve disputes through individual arbitration instead of in court, and it waives class actions and jury trials.
- Talk to us first. If you have a problem with Cruse, email support@getcruse.com with your name, your account’s email address, what went wrong and what you’d like us to do. We’ll do the same if we have a problem with you. Neither of us will start an arbitration or a court case until 30 days after that notice, so we have time to fix it.
- Arbitration. If we can’t resolve it, you and Cruse agree that any dispute arising out of or relating to these Terms or the Service will be resolved by binding arbitration before one arbitrator, on an individual basis. The American Arbitration Association (AAA) will run it under its Consumer Arbitration Rules, whose fee rules limit what you pay. The arbitration can be held by video, by phone, in writing, or in the county where you live. The arbitrator can award you the same individual relief a court could. The Federal Arbitration Act governs this agreement to arbitrate.
- Exceptions. Either of us can bring an individual claim in small claims court instead, if it qualifies. Either of us can also ask a court to stop someone from infringing intellectual property or using the Service without permission.
- No class actions. You and Cruse may bring claims only on your own behalf, not as a plaintiff or class member in any class, collective or representative proceeding, and an arbitrator can’t combine different people’s claims. If a court decides this waiver can’t be enforced for a particular claim or remedy, that claim or remedy will be decided by a court after the rest is arbitrated, and never in a class arbitration.
- Many similar claims. If 25 or more similar claims are filed against Cruse by the same or coordinated lawyers, the AAA’s Mass Arbitration Supplementary Rules apply to them.
- Opting out. You can opt out of arbitration within 30 days after you first agree to these Terms. Email support@getcruse.com from your account’s email address with your name and a statement that you opt out of arbitration. Opting out doesn’t change anything else in these Terms.
- Courts. A dispute that isn’t arbitrated will be decided by the state or federal courts located in Texas, or by a small claims court where you live if the claim qualifies. To the extent the law allows, you and Cruse waive a jury trial.
- Governing law. Texas law governs these Terms, without regard to conflict-of-law rules.
- Changes to this section. If we change this section, the change won’t apply to a dispute either of us has already given notice of.
If you live in Canada, the arbitration and class action parts of this section don’t apply to you, and you can bring a claim in the courts where you live. If you live in Canada, or anywhere else with consumer protection laws that give you rights these Terms can’t change, nothing in these Terms limits those rights.
18. Changes to these Terms
If we make material changes to these Terms, we’ll tell you in the app or by email before they take effect. If you keep using the Service after that, the new Terms apply. If you don’t agree to them, stop using the Service and delete your account.
19. Everything else
- These Terms and the Privacy Policy are the whole agreement between you and Cruse about the Service.
- If part of these Terms can’t be enforced, the rest still applies.
- If we don’t enforce a part of these Terms, we haven’t given up the right to enforce it later.
- You can’t transfer these Terms to someone else. We may transfer them as part of a merger, acquisition or sale of our business.
- We’ll send notices to your account’s email address or show them in the app. Send notices to us at support@getcruse.com.
- These Terms are available in English, Spanish and French. If the versions differ, the English version controls, unless the law where you live requires otherwise.
